Baby clothes

Congratulations if you are a new parent! Aren't you eager to dress your newborn in those adorable cute outfits but you must know that your baby will quickly outgrow them. So buying baby clothes can be quite a challenge and it will largely depend upon your baby's growth and your budget. While you set out to shop for those cute outfits keep a few basic buying tips in mind.

1. Always buy a larger size. You will be wasting money if you buy clothes that fit your baby perfectly. Babies grow very fast in the first few years and buying a larger size will ensure a longer life for the clothes.

2. Take weather into consideration. For example if your baby is due in winter you'll have to store your baby's wardrobe with winter clothes. Baby clothes are labeled according to the age groups and when you are tempted to buy an outfit make a weather prediction first -What will be the weather like when my baby is of that age? In this way you will invest in clothes that will fit your newborn and also be seasonally appropriate.

3. Functionality of clothes is most important. The clothes should be easy to put on. One-piece jumpsuits, clothes with front buckles or snaps or zippers will be more comfortable for the baby. You must be able to change the baby's clothes and diapers easily and for this purpose snap crotches and stretchy necklines will be of great help. Try and avoid buying clothes with buttons, beads or clasps. Do not buy scratchy materials and even if you buy clothes with frills and lace or embroidery make sure that they are easy to pull off and comfortable for the baby.

4. Store up for emergencies. Babies spill food all the time and if they become sick they may throw up on their outfit itself. You will have to change the baby into a clean set of clothes a number of times in a day. Especially when you are traveling with the baby and you neither have time nor the necessary arrangement for washing, you will need a lot of extra clothing for the baby.

5. Do not refuse Hand me downs. Your relatives or friends might offer you their children's clothes. These may be new clothes that a child may never have worn for babies outgrow their clothes very fast, or these may be second hand clothes. You can add to your baby's wardrobe in this manner.

6. Covering the feet is equally important. Those tiny feet need care and one-piece outfits with footies attached are ideal. Socks would be another alternative but most infants pull them off and if your baby is already walking or is able to stand up then you could go for those adorable little shoes with squeakers.

7. Wash the clothes first. Wash the clothes before you dress your baby. Clothes that you buy might have had a long shelf life, you never know! New clothes may cause skin irruptions and irritation. Washing will not only clean them but also make the clothes softer. A baby's skin is extremely sensitive and you have to take extra care to keep his clothes dirt free.
Before you go shopping for your bundle of joy keep these tips in mind. Baby clothes can be quite expensive so you need to know beforehand exactly what kind of clothes you are looking for, taking into consideration weather factors, the infant's growth and your finances. You will never run out of options and shopping for your baby can be real fun!

Cute Gifts For Cute Babies

All babies are cute. Make sure you choose an equally cute gift for them.

The picture of cuteness is any baby. As a first time dad, I went on a photograph-clicking spree. I did it again at the time of my second baby.

It is their look that is so cute.

Interestingly, the concept of smiling when happy and crying when sad is not necessarily the way babies look at things. A baby does not need a reason to cry or laugh.

So what I am saying is that babies are different than adults. So if you want to give somebody baby gifts, you really have to think hard. For instance, should you apply the same logic while gifting as you would for an adult?

Another important question is: Do you gift the baby or do you gift the parent? Or do you gif the parent with something that they can use in dealing with the baby. For instance, do you give a rattle toy? Do you give a baby keepsake? Or do you give a nappy deodorizer?

I think you get the picture. Buying gifts is always tough. Doubly so in the case of babies.

One of the gifts that I liked a lot when my babies were growing up was some kind of a do it yourself that could keep handprints or footprints of babies in some kind of plaster or clay. Baby's tiny feet and hands make a great keepsake. Though you can certainly choose any other gift, this sort of thinking will help you know what parents find cute.

Another idea could be a gift basket containing many of the daily requirements of babies. These could include baby powder, babyoil, a small comb, napkins, tissues, and the like. Any parent will enjoy using these, especially the consumables.

Still need more ideas? Customize the gifts, that is a great idea For instance you can paste the baby's picture on a toy or a book. Or you could take the baby's picture and put it in a cute little picture frame.

Of course, more traditional gifts such as a small jewel made of Silver will continue to remain popular.

But coming back to the practical gifts, you should know that feeding babies is a big deal for parents. So, if you could help out with utensils or any other form of mealtime assistance that would be great.

You could also focus on sleep and bed time. So, you can consider bed sheets, covers, baby pillow, sleep time toys or the like.

Let us not forget that you do not necessarily have to gift the baby. You can also consider gifting the Mom or the Dad. For instance, there are many interesting books available for new Moms. I would think that the Mom is a good object of gifting attention too.

Whatever you get, make sure that you are gifting it with all your heart.

Encapsulating Fun And Joy With A Baby Footprint

In those first few months following the birth of a precious newborn visitor to this world, the parents are often too busy to recall much of those first special moments in a child's life. If it's their firstborn, they are often full of the worries of parenthood, wondering whether they can do things better, wondering how other parents manage to do all the things that need to be done. If it's their second or third child, they are also busy looking after the other children, or perhaps relieved that they have elder children to look after their latest arrival; and relieved that they have a few moments to grab a rest. Of course, many parents will be clicking away on a camera or letting their camcorder whir away to record any precious moments for posterity. It's a part of life that parenthood occurs for most of us at the busiest times in our life. We have so many other things going on, and so little time to look after those things that are more precious to us. It always seems that we wish we had time to do those extra meaningful little things; things we will look back at when we are older and wish we had done; time seems to rush faster and faster. If we are out shopping, we try to reduce the number of shops we go to; keeping to buying the basic supplies.

Whether people like to acknowledge it or not, access to the Internet is proving more and more useful. People find that they can trust and buy many products on the Internet while simply at home; perhaps with their newborn baby on their knees. It can actually be enjoyable to browse the Web now, as search engines are becoming more efficient at finding what they need. When the little baby has finally fallen asleep, there are so few shops are open. It's a good time to browse; to catch up with the fun of life; catch up with precious little moments of life.

One of those simple little joys and that you can share as parents and child - or as a larger family, at a family gathering perhaps - is a simple making of a baby ink footprint. This has the great advantage of not taking up too much time and getting the result that is decorative and attractive, that can be framed and that will mean so much later in life ? a real little heirloom. Many of us have little fears of growing old which stop us from investigating what it will be like for us. We see our parents and grandparents getting old, but don't really believe it will happen to us that quickly - it will be different for us. Alas no! When we are old and the children have left the home, we may search our memory and find little there. It will be at these times perhaps that we will feel some regret that we didn't spend more time with our precious offspring; didn't share more special moments with them.

It's quite surprising how many different baby handprint crafts there are that can be revolved around making a baby footprint. It can even be a handprint. You can get creative. You could try making a collage of your baby's different creations as he or she grows up. Just imagine that your child has just painted some beautiful flowers and it?s Mothers? day or Fathers? day coming soon. If you already had a little handprint of your child, you can scan or photocopy it combined with the drawing of the flowers; something very simple, but meaningful to parents.

There often seems to be little meaning in life, but for the simple pleasures - a few moments of happiness here and there. The tiny handprint or baby footprint reminds you of earlier joys experienced and just how small your child was so long ago - how much joy you got. You can look at the lines on a hand and wonder what they mean. You may find a friend, or even develop an interest yourself, in hand reading later and be fascinated to see all those little scrawls and whorls of lines. It was many years ago that I met Hungarian gypsy who fascinated us with his descriptions of different people's lines on their hands. I even bought a book on palmistry to while away the hours on an Indian train journey, and even got insights into my own personality. I came to learn that the lines on hand change, that they are not fixed. Many people are fascinated by the future, what the future holds in store for them and their children. It can be a source of wonderment when, later in life, you're able to look back at your own hand and with a knowing sigh say, ?Ah yes, I thought so!?

Tips On Making Your Baby's Room Special

?How do I make my new baby?s room special?? is the predominate question on the minds of many new parent. They want it to look just perfect; a tiny oasis arranged with sweet dreams in mind. This article will provide you with tips to help you design the perfect room for your baby.

All aspects of the room and the baby furniture placed in it should help your baby with its mental growth. The functions of the baby furniture should include visual effects, just like a toy does. Your baby furniture should combine colorful toy imagery with functional, safe and sturdy furniture to assist parents in creating a mentally stimulating environment of their new baby?s room.

Before you go far with you planning, I recommend consult with your spouse or other person normally involved in household and family decisions. This is a major task when done correctly. There are eight phases to this project and you will need encouragement, support and understanding from your mate. Therefore, maintaining a good cooperative atmosphere is of utmost importance.

If you have a baby room already or have already begun working on your baby room, you will want to skip to the phase that applies to your situation. But, review the earlier phase for ideas you may want to incorporate.

Phase 1: Choosing The Theme For The Room
1.Study your child to see what seems to interest him/her most
2.Search the web for sex appropriate themes.
3.A few popular themes are:
a.Farm Animals
b.Bugs & Bees
c.Jungle ? Safari
d.Sports
e.Cars & Trucks
f.Celestial
g.Floral
h.Western ? Cowboy
i.Popular Character
j.Noah?s Ark
k.Toy/Teddy Bear
l.Plaid
m.Patch Work

Phase 2: Choosing The Baby Room
1.Evaluate the room for safety.
2.Evaluate the room for comfort.
3.Consider bathroom convenience.
4.How quickly can you get to your baby?
5.Is the room located where you can know what is happening in the room at all times
6.Consider the number and size of items you will put in the room.
7.Consider other things that are important to you.

Phase 3: Decide What Furniture And Other Large Items Will Go In The Nursery
1.Consider funny designs and vibrant colors.
2.Always select furniture, which can be used when the child grows older.
3.It should be adjustable and attractive when possible.
4.Choose furniture with themes such as listed at Phase 1.3.
5.Always select baby furniture with safety features. Put safety before money.
6.A suggested check list of possibilities may include: baby crib, baby dressing station or changing table, baby armoire, baby dresser, rocking chair, table, chairs, book case, diaper pail, bathtub, play pen, and toy storage.

When choosing furniture, you will want to think about items that can grow up with your baby. You will need a crib and mattress along with sheets, a mattress cover, crib bumpers, and a mobile to hang from the crib to keep your baby entertained.

Phase 4: Build The Nursery On Paper
1.Measure the room.
2.Draw to scale a layout of the room. Include the floor, each walls, closet door, windows and doors.
3.On the layout, draw to scale footprints of the furniture and item from Phase 3 where they will be placed.
4.Draw to scale the artwork on the walls placed for greatest visibility
5.Order furniture and other items to go in the room to be delivered at the time you complete.

Phase 5: Prepare the Walls
1.Choose the paint for the wall that is consistent with your theme.
2.Select wall art/stencils that are consistent with your theme.
3.Employ a professional to paint and apply the artwork to the wall if you are not up to it.
4.Remember any flaws in the wall must be repaired before the paint and art is applied.
5.Artwork will go on the wall according the layout you created in phase 4. This is important to prevent it being blocked from view by a piece of furniture or a picture.
6.After completing phase 6, complete this phase by applying your window dressing.

Phase 6: Prepare the floor
1.Choose a type of floor that is best for you and your baby. Your baby will spend a lot of time on the floor, sometime playing with toys and other times getting up from falls. Another consideration is that babies are not known for cleanliness and you will have to clean up after him/her.
2.Choose a floor color and type that is consistent with your theme.
3.Unless you have a handyman available or are one, I suggest a professional flooring person for this job.

Phase 7: Furnish The Room
1.Retrieve the diagrams from Phase 4.
2.Install lighting. That is place lamps and install lampshades and globes as required.
3.Place the furniture exactly as you placed it on your diagram.
4.Bring in and place the small easily movable items like the rocking chair

Phase 8: Move Your Baby Into His/Her Room
1.Move all of your baby?s possessions into his/her room.
2.Get baby familiar with the new room and to take ownership of it.
a.Spend quality time in the room with your baby.
b.Confine as many of baby?s activities to his/her room as possible.
c.Take them there during naptime.
d.Show and talk to them about the wall art. Read them theme related stories.
e.Unveil gifts and surprises in his/her room when possible.
f.Act like your enjoy being in the room.
g.When you speak of the room identify it as ?Jane?s? room, substituting ?Jane? for your baby?s name.
h.Try to create pleasant memories in the room and unpleasant ones outside the room. For example award them in the room and discipline them outside the room.

3.This may the toughest part of the job. But, the key is persistence. You will be glad you did.

With these tips in hand, you will be able to develop a solid plan that will lead to the special baby room you have dreamed about. For more tips to make shopping for your baby easy check the Article Page at http://www.babystoregiftshop.com

Ideas On What To Do With A Picture Of A Baby Footprint

Thousands of people come online every week searching for pictures of baby footprints and ideas on how to use these pictures in a creative and special way. The reasons and goals can be many but most have one thing in common and that is that it has to be unique (homemade).

So if you?re one of the people coming online looking for ideas on using the baby footprint pictures here are some ideas that might help you create the keepsake, shower invitation etc. that you have in mind.

Firstly it is important that you decide whether you?re going to use a picture of a baby foot taken from your own baby or whether any picture will do. If you decide that any picture will do then the internet is a good place to start.

Using Google?s image search can help you find the type of picture that you?re looking for. However before you use the pictures you find you have to make sure that you are not violating any copyrights. I suggest that you send an email to the webmaster of the site from where you?re going to copy the picture.

If you will go for a picture of you own baby?s foot then get your digital camera and start shooting. An ordinary camera can also do the trick but you have to have to photo shop create the digital picture for you. It doesn?t cost that much but it might take a few days to get it done. I suggest that you borrow a digital camera if you don?t own one yourself.

Next thing you?ll need is a piece of software called a photo editor. If you don?t have one already you can download a lot of free editors on the internet. I suggest that you search on Google for ?free photo editor? and you?ll have plenty to choose from.

If you?re new to editing pictures it might take you a few hours to get it right but it is time well spent. Another idea would to have a friend or family member help you to edit the pictures to get them just as you want them to be.

Once you have the baby footprint picture as you want it you can use it time and time again. Some of the most common items to create are baby keepsakes. This can be baby poems with a picture of the baby?s foot and a date. You can do imprints in clay and frame them together with a picture of the foot or you can use it for a unique baby shower invitation.

The possibilities are almost endless. A cure idea that I?ve heard some people are using is that instead of measuring your child?s height you can see the growth through a series of pictures of their feet. With a little creativity this can evolve into a true piece of art.

The ideas above are only a fraction of what you can do. You might already have great ideas of your own. However if you want to use a pic of a baby footprint you first decision has to be what type of picture to choose. Standard or unique.

Baby Sleeping ? Scrapbook Page Layout Ideas

Your new baby is a precious addition to your family, and you want to keep every little memory safe in a scrapbook ? conventional or digital. You have so many cute pictures ? many of them with your baby sleeping. You want to feature your baby sleeping with scrapbook page layout ideas that show how sweet your little boy or girl is.

Baby Sleeping Themes

Scrapbook page layout ideas should begin with themes. In this case, you have chosen a theme of baby sleeping, but you may want to consider something that is not so broad.

1. Does baby pout when sleeping? Your theme could be ?precious pouter?.

2. If baby sleeps with heaps of toys, a theme might be ?our priceless toy?.

3. ?Knitting up the raveled sleeve of care? is a Shakespearean theme that could feature baby sleeping.

As you consider scrapbook page layout ideas, open your mind to a variety of themes.

Baby Sleeping Layout Starters

You can get your creative juices flowing by looking at page layout ideas others have created. Here are 7 page layout ideas to get you started:

1. Baby Sleeping at Baptism: Page layout ideas for a baptism look good with ribbons and lace in antique off-white shades. Use a background paper in a rich wine shade. If baby received a certificate of baptism, this can be used along with photos. Focus attention on baby sleeping by making that photo prominent, framing it in lace. Include photos of parents and others who were a part of the occasion. A row of photos across the top of a 2-page spread could be set off from the rest of the page with a lace ribbon. Be sure the baby?s full name is included in rich lettering.

2. Baby Sleeping in Pink: Scrapbook page layout ideas for a little girl in pink will look good with a sprinkling of sugar and spice. Background paper can be a cinnamon brown textured paper. A dictionary definition of ?spice? on a torn antique ivory paper could be topped with one photo of baby sleeping. Write ?sugar? on a tag, and add a ribbon. Don?t forget a bit of journaling to tell about baby?s sleep habits. Embellishment candies will carry your theme beautifully.

3. Baby Sleeping in Blue: One of the cute page layout ideas you may want to consider is one that centers on a ?Little Boy Blue? theme. Begin with a background in pale blues and whites. Perhaps a wide stripe patterned paper, or even a piece of blue and white fabric would work well. Mount your ?baby sleeping? photo on the background with black corners. Add a photo or two of the many ?blue? things in his life. Stack blue blankets, sleepers, toys ? anything blue ? and snap a few photos for further page layout ideas. Add blue embellishments, stickers, and a memento such as a piece of a blue blanket or favorite clothing. Journal in dark blue ink, making your notes encircle the page as a border.

4. Baby Sleeping at Birth: For page layout ideas that feature your baby sleeping during the first weeks of life, consider adding a copy of the birth certificate. If it has footprints on the back, be sure you use a copy of those, too. For digital page layout ideas, consider scanning the foot prints onto your hard drive. Then, in a graphics program, give them a transparent layer. Beneath that, insert a layer with the word ?baby? in pastel colors, one color per letter. A few extra ?feet? would be a cute embellishment. Frame your baby in pastel frames.

5. Baby Sleeping on Baby Sheets: Scrapbook page layout ideas for a baby asleep might begin with a background of sheet fabric. If you have the actual crib sheets on which baby slept, you might cut a piece the size of your page, and use it for a background. Mount your photos on torn paper in one of the brighter colors from the sheet. If the sheet has pictures of baby animals or toys, use similar embellishments and stickers. Add a corner of baby?s favorite blanket as a memento, and a note about how your boy or girl loved it.

6. Baby Sleeping in Family Tree: This is one of those page layout ideas that work well in a family heritage scrapbook. Start with a family tree background that uses a nostalgic tree graphic with family names arranged on it. Don?t worry about covering some names. This is just background for this page. mount your baby sleeping in a cradle cut out. Place the cradle strategically in the tree. Photos of parents or grandparents asleep as babies in the 40?s or 50?s would be fun for comparison. Who does baby resemble more? Add a few bird stickers. Journal on leaf shapes. Add a border of leaves.

7. Baby Sleeping at Dinner: Many babies fall asleep in the high chair, their tiny heads ending up on the tray. Scrapbook page layout ideas that feature such a photo can carry through the dinner theme. Can you tell what was served the time the photo was taken? If it was baby food from jars, get identical jars and set up a photo of what was on the menu. Write out the menu for more interest. Add a menu item of ?Zzzzzzzz?. If baby sleeping was at a home-made meal, include a recipe as one of your page layout ideas. Arrange a few teddy bear stickers and a spoon.

Whatever scrapbook page layout ideas are used, you will want to remember that each page is a canvas on which you paint a picture. Imagine each scrapbook page hung on the wall of a gallery or displayed on an art easel. All page layout ideas should tell stories without additional comments.

Ten Reasons to Travel with Kid

(Even if it is only to the corner market, and even if I do live in tropical, exotic Costa Rica.)

1.To get out of the house before my 2-year-old determinedly achieves making my head and/or my husband?s into a flat-board for his diving expertise.

2. To avoid hearing my son demand I draw his hand on any random surface, AGAIN!

3. To see new places and teach him something other than ?do you need to go pee-pee/ca-ca??

4. To wear him out so he can develop a big hole in his belly and finally eat without me ripping my hair out or crying for him to take just one teensy-weensy morsel of the food I?ve slaved over for hours so he can have some ?spice? in his life, because god-forbid if a toddler eats something with less than eight words in the title. And, of course, the reason for his NOT eating is because ?y cooking is too boring?for him and I have to cook up extravagant concoctions of mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, pasta, and meats!

5. To wear him out completely on someone else?s turf so he can sleep like a ?baby?.

6. For me to see something other than my four walls which have become miraculously, and too quickly, covered in chalk, crayons and marker. (My husband and I are totally opposed to this, but if we say no the full-on temper tantrum awaiting us is by far more taxing than the hours of scrubbing the walls clean.)

7. To know that there is a world out there with real people other than Barney, Mickey, Clifford, Dora?

8. To interact with real, live people and kids who will be great distractions for my son as he attempts another round of climbing our shoulders via stepping all over my body and face, or having us fly him around like an airplane. (He only weighs 30 pounds!)

9. To have a reason to take a shower (other than because I am too stinky even for myself) and throw on clothes bought in trendy stores than my glorified robes and PJ sets. Besides, I?ve realized dressing up for any reason at all when my little man joins me is fruitless. He manages to leave footprints, paint prints, food prints on me no matter how hard I try to run from him.

10. To dress up ?the-light-of-my-life? (my son) in the numerous designer outfits my family and friends eagerly bestow upon us. They actually think my life is as exotic as the country I live in!

I'm a US expat living in Costa Rica with my husband and mixed-up little toddler trying to figure out the trials and tribulations of motherhood and living abroad.
